Hummingbirds in the high country!

Life & Love, Photography
Rufous Hummingbird The Colorado high country is a “buzz” with so many hummingbirds now! My favorite little “feisty,” the Rufous outflies all other species, and usually gets its way at our feeders at the expense of slower, less-maneuverable hummers. Did you know that the Rufous has the longest migration route of all US hummingbirds? Rufous Hummingbirds are wide-ranging, and breed farther north than any other hummingbird. Look for them in spring in California, summer in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, and fall in the Rocky Mountains as they make their annual circuit of the West. What is your favorite traveling summertime bird?
