bike to work day

Food, Tools of the trade
Bike_to_work_day Even though the Studio Office is located just “steps” from our home how could I pass up Bike To Work Day? There’s nothing like breakfast served with fresh air and sunshine – especially after a nice bike ride, or for me a way to procrastinate a tad! And that’s exactly what our town is doing today, along with many others across the US. Guesses are about 8,000 of Fort Collins’ finest will enjoy our 25th Annual Bike to Work Day. From 6:30-9:30 AM, in my opinion the best part of the day, I enjoyed only 3 of the 40 breakfast stations sponsored by 96 local businesses. Oh my God! I am lucky I made it home to rest awhile from eating so much yummy food. From fresh fruit, burritos, bagels, any type of egg you can think of, and my ALL TIME FAVORITE The Waffle Lab. It was a fun morning indeed, seeing lots of friends, sharing excellent food + conversation. By the time I peddled home to the Office, it was time to get to work and almost time for lunch. I spent the rest of the day cutting, cutting, cutting. Time to relax and stack all the paper in little neat piles in hopes that the Printing Press Fairies show up to finish the job, wish me luck! Do you have a favorite bike ride or breakfast spot? Do you get to ride or walk to your Office?

today is tuesday :: let’s meet her!

Branding, Technology
Tuesday_illustration1 With our new website up & functioning I am surprised how many folks have been asking about the behind the scenes details and how everything came about. First, let me say it has been A LOT of work, but bigger than that: IT WAS WORTH IT, thanks to the team at  GhostlyFerns , I also was drawn to the name since I love plants! Just a word of caution: don’t pick a designer just because you like the name!! You see I started my “researching” last year on small business design companies that loved working with other small businesses and produced “out of this world” beautiful, artistic and fun websites and did not charge “out of this world” prices. I looked at literally 100’s of blogs and websites of artists, not just letterpress printers, followed all the links to who developed each site. Narrowed it down to a very small tiny hand full and then got in touch and personally spoke to each small business owner and talked about recommendations and things they learned during the process. I read lots of articles about rebranding, relaunching, redoing, etc… it was important to me to start with a fresh new logo. That brings me to today & Tuesday Bassen, illustrator extraordinaire. Once I made the big {for Me} decision to jump into this entire re-design, I have to admit I did have days of non-sleep with anticipation of what someone that I did not know, and may I add — did not have a clue on who I was either — 1000’s of miles away, coming up with a new logo I would fall in love with. It was truly an evolving, growing process and after my initial “OMG, this is too “cutesy” for the CabinPress Studio brand and not wanting to be the client from hell, I really feel a nice balance of professional yet lighthearted and fun brand has been achieved. Tuesday’s name is truly as unique as her work, visit her Tuesday-is-playday blog and Etsy Shop. We are proud of our new Logo and would love to hear what you think!

ready :: set :: relaunch!

CabinPress announcements, Technology
rocket_launching Well, I am truly busting at the seams for the CabinPress Studio launch of our new website any day now!  Just so you know this definitely did not happen over night! So for the next few days I want to spend some time talking about my rebranding process or as I’m calling it “The Raising of the Cabin” ha! I was lucky enough to work with three amazing designers at Ghostly Ferns, the name itself makes me smile. Be sure to show them some love and like their Facebook page too! So … as most of you have seen right now I’ve had a rebrand and facelift to our  logo/website/blog {now called The Log} and we now have our very own small business Facebook page, please head on over and Like Us! It has been quite a ride and I can’t wait to share it with you. Have you ever undertaken something huge that you are so very proud of?
